Macedonia *

In the summer of 2008 I took a bus ride from Bulgaria to Macedonia.  I spent a few days in Skopje along the Vardar River.   

The Millennium Cross, situated on the peak of the mountain Vodno, is a tourist attraction. At 66 meters high, it is the biggest cross in the world and can be seen from 30 km away.

There are several landmarks of Mother Teresa in Skopje, the city where she was born.  I also discovered the music of Tose Proeski, a great singer who was tragically killed in a car accident in 2007.  Music Sample: Tose Proeski

Puerto Rico

 A self governing territory of the United States, Puerto Rica is often called the island Borinquen, from Borikén, its indigenous Taino name.  A beautiful island, with great music.   We are talking Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez and great bomba tunes!  I was briefly hear in the late 80’s with my parents.

Bulgaria *

Bulgaria has the temper of Greece and the beauty of Croatia.  I was there for a wedding in 2008 and had a chance to travel to Sofia and a few other places.  The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Sophia is a must see.  A member of the European Union since 2007, this country is up and coming.

Barbados

Barbados is an independent island nation in the western Atlantic Ocean.   Considered a part of the Lesser Antilles, the influence of the English on Barbados is more noticeable than on other islands in the West Indies. A good example of this is the island’s national sport: cricket.  I was here with my parents in the early 90’s for two days.
